Alexander, la musique serait un arrangement de Martin F. Shaw, d’après une mélodie anglaise du XVIIe siècle (ÉCOUTER LE SON). Il est, en général, chanté au début des offices. C’est un hymne à la gloire de Dieu, qui a fait toutes choses, belles et bonnes. Il s’agit d’une énumération de ces bienfaits pour la plupart naturels (les oiseaux, les arbres, les buissons, etc.). |
